Their mission is to eliminate barriers and create opportunities for people to have equal access to health & wellness and to live in our community with dignity. They offer a variety of programs and services to Yukoners living with HIV/AIDS and/or hepatitis C as well as those highly vulnerable to infection due to illicit drug use, incarceration, homelessness, poverty, risky sex and mental health challenges. Values: 1. They believe a community is diminished when people who need health & wellness are marginalized. 2. They believe in equitable delivery and availability of health services. 3. They believe that people who use drugs, people who are challenged with stigmatizing health conditions, people who are incarcerated and people who are insecurely housed are especially at risk for not having equal access. 4. They believe in the power of Yukons cultural diversity and the richness of its First Nation, Inuit, and Metis tradition and roots. They offer programs in the following areas: Education, Prevention and Capacity Needle Exchange (NEP) / Harm Reduction Program Support programs for Vulnerable Populations Housing Education, Prevention and Capacity Programs include: Prevention education in HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, Healthy Sexuality and Harm Reduction Capacity building prevention programs to service providers across the Yukon Harm Reduction Programs include: On-site confidential needle exchange Safer crack kit program Condom Distribution Naloxone Overdose kits training and distribution Hygiene supplies Outreach mobile services Support Programs for Vulnerable Populations and Housing programs include: Support & counselling, Health navigation and advocacy, Drop in centre, Wednesday lunch program (from 1:00 3:00 p.m.) Outreach nurse on Wednesday afternoon (from 1:00 3:00 p.m.) Drug User Support Group on Tuesday (1 to 2:30 p.m.) Housing navigation services, advocacy, housing placement and housing loss prevention Philosophical Foundations: Blood Ties embraces a number of critical philosophical underpinnings in how we approach our work; those include: a) Harm Reduction; b) Social Justice; c) Social Determinants; d) Partnership & Collaboration; e) Leadership & Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and harm reduction; and f) GIPA / Nothing About Us, Without Us.
